Saw the train coming: how it works in the new Copenhagen metro

Copenhagen’s new Metro features lines covered in lighted sky that change colour – and operate in direct contrast to nature.

All six lines of the metro – one for every hour of the day – run on a track that’s continuous from east to west, so the sky-lit lines are constantly changing. That way you can choose different times of day to ride if you’ve been in the office all day and want a bit of a change.

The series of world firsts continue with touchscreens which communicate line locations, so you can see where your next stop is even if you’re stationary. Imagine how this would be used on trains from other cities where information will be required throughout a journey.

There’s a machine which helps you connect all your farecards, so that the information you type in gets transmitted to the system automatically and accurately.
