Anna Nordqvist is on course to qualify for the LPGA’s season-ending season finale in China after winning at the Saudi Ladies International.

The Swede was in imperious form to beat South Korean Hyo Joo Kim in a play-off at Royal Greens in Riyadh after Nordqvist carded a four-under 68 in the first round.

The 30-year-old was eventually joined in the play-off by fifth-placed Alena Sharp of Canada, as Nordqvist and Kim finished regulation play tied on seven under.

Stacy Lewis had a horror show in the desert desert, shooting an 82 and missing the cut by four shots.

Nordqvist, who was five under, started her round with four birdies in the first five holes, before dropping two shots in the seventh and 11th.

It looked set to be a miserable day for Nordqvist but she composed herself before closing her bogey-free round with a birdie on 18 to secure victory.

Nordqvist won the LPGA’s last event at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Canada in August for her second title of the season.
